Old Hickory Nazarene Family,
I hope you are well! I wanted to email an update to all of you. As most of you know, I announced at church two Sundays ago that we have signed a contract on a $1.8 million offer on our church property. We are currently in a period of 30 days due diligence as the prospective buyer inspects the property. At the end of the 30 day period, we will know whether or not the buyer wants to proceed with the purchase.
Assuming that the buyer does want to continue with the purchase, what we know is that the buyer would like to close within 90 days. I have been investigating a few options of potential places we would gather for our weekly Sunday gatherings. I will be meeting with the Church Leadership Team this Sunday to discuss these potential locations as well as other future planning for our time of transition. Two available options that we know of at this point in time are renting another church or renting a school.
The tricky part of trying to know where we will meet is that we cannot know for sure until the property sells. Options that are available today may not be available in 90 days for example.
With this said, I want you all to know how excited I am about the possibilities and potential as we are in a time of waiting for the possibility of transition. Transitions are challenging, but transitions also are packed with potential for all kinds of growth. Personal growth, spiritual growth, and church growth are just a few of the these potentials that I am hopeful will happen in the days ahead.
I am excited about our church more effectively and faithfully leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. I am excited that I am seeing so many of you growing in your relationship with Jesus Christ right now, and as we continue to grow, we are becoming more and more of what God wants us to become as He desires us to lead others into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. What God does for us and in us is never only for us. It's for the sake of others.
A church that is making disciples who make other disciples of Jesus Christ is something I am starting to see happen now and I am excited to see what God will do in and through us in the days ahead. This is what Jesus Christ called us as disciples to do. So as we wait for possibilities of transition, may we all continue to take steps to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ, and may we all be praying for God to open our hearts and eyes to see those who He is calling us to reach and lead.
May we all be praying for God's guidance and wisdom and may we wait upon the Lord with eager anticipation that He is doing a new work in and through the people called "Old Hickory Church of the Nazarene." I am grateful to be a part of this church family.
May the grace and peace of Christ fill us all today and in the days ahead!
