Located at 605 Jones Street, Old Hickory Church of the Nazarene has been a part of the life of Old Hickory Village since 1938. Beginning with just a dirt floor basement, Old Hickory Nazarene has added to its facilities many times over the years. In addition to the sanctuary and classrooms, the campus now consists of a Family Life Center which houses the church offices and the gym, a parsonage, and an educational wing which was dedicated in June of 2002.

Uncommon Grounds opened in March of 2020 in the foyer of the educational wing of the church (follow the signs at the front of the church building). Open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Uncommon Grounds operates on donations as a ministry to the community.

CONNECT with other people. Meeting in smaller groups helps develop friendships... CONNECT with your church. The many opportunities for ministry helps you to become more involved... CONNECT with your faith. Small groups provide a time to dig a little deeper. You are in a setting where you can question and discuss and learn together.

Sunday morning & Wednesday groups meet at the church. Other groups may meet at varied times & locations. For information on joining a small group, contact Debbie Woodard at 615-739-7367.

During the month of August, we'll learn about CREATIVITY: imagining what you could do because you were made in God's image. Our memory verse comes from Psalm 145:3, NIrV: “Lord, you are great. You are really worth of praise. No one can completely understand how great you are.

Local Service Opportunities

Calling all Bakers -- If you love to bake, we are looking for volunteers to bake banana bread in the comfort of your own home, then deliver baked bread on Sunday mornings or to the office (M-Th 8:30am-1pm). We will freeze and use as gifts in the future. See Debbie Mac with any questions.

Pencil Partners -- Our PENCIL Partnership is with Dupont-Hadley Middle School, helping with after-school tutoring, reading to students, exam proctors, seasonal events, end of year celebrations, etc. We also collect donations for Angel Tree, school supplies, and more. Please see Vickie Blackburn for more information on getting involved.

Box Tops for Education -- We collect Box Tops for Dupont Elementary. You are invited to drop them off at the missions table in the foyer.

Bridgeway Connections -- Help feed our neighbors experiencing hunger and volunteer at Bridgeway Connections' Food Pantry. If you only have an hour to spare, there's an hour open for you! For more information, contact the program director at 615-847-4996. Together, we are neighbors helping neighbors.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20
